In 2003, New York City-based producer-engineer Rich G. and singer-songwriter Bernadette M. decided to try working as a duo in an electronic-pop project called Pitch Black Dream. Initial recording went well, resulting in their first track "Never Going Home Again." This song captured the essence of what they hoped to achieve - beat-driven music with a dreamy, ambient feel. Inspired by this song, they continued to write and record, exploring different avenues within electronic music. They ultimately chose ten tracks for their debut CD, Never Going Home.

With its cinematic moodiness, the CD was targeted specifically for film and television use. As a result, nine of the ten tracks were licensed, and PBD's music appeared on FX's Emmy-winner The Shield, and numerous times on MTV's original programming, among other places.

Certain radio outlets were particularly responsive to PBD's unique sound, and their music frequently appeared on Laney Goodman's nationally syndicated radio show Women in Music, and on Billy Zero's channel on XM Satellite Radio.

In the meantime, Rich and Bernadette continued to record. They submitted a version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" to Skipping Discs, and their cover was featured as the first track on the CD "Spiders From Venus: Indie Women Artists and Female-Fronted Bands Cover David Bowie."

With the licensing success of Never Going Home, Bernadette and Rich decided to go to work again. They honed in on their songwriting and sound, and expanded dynamically with more instrumentation, and more guitars. Fading Away is their sophomore effort. Fans of their debut will be pleased to hear that the familiar layered vocal harmonies are back, along with Rich's complex rhythms. The songwriting, however, has never been stronger and the addition of more organic instruments takes Pitch Black Dream to a whole new level.

:: BERNADETTE ::

Bernadette McCallion

A native New Yorker, singer-songwriter Bernadette released her debut CD 'Cry Wolf' in late 2001. The title track, as well the song 'Full Moon Curse' were used on NBC's Passions and MTV's Camp Jim. Two other tracks appeared in the independent film Just Add Pepper. She signed a promotional deal with Danceline Records in Dublin, Ireland to further promote the CD. When Skipping Discs contacted Bernadette about covering a Doors song for an upcoming CD, her first call was to Rich, the engineer and co-producer of 'Cry Wolf.' Their successful collaboration covering the Doors 'Love Me Two Times' (featured on 'Love Her Madly: New Women Artists Cover the Doors') inspired them to write material together unlike anything either of them had done in the past. With Pitch Black Dream, Bernadette has found the perfect vehicle for her breathy vocals and moody lyrics.
